Job Title: Journeyman Millwright
Job Description
This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined Journeyman Millwright or experienced non-ticketed millwright who will perform preventative maintenance and repairs in a manufacturing plant. You will work in a heavy industrial environment, focusing on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, troubleshooting machinery, and supporting production by keeping equipment running safely and efficiently. Candidates must be capable of working independently within a small maintenance team and comfortable in a hands-on, manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance on concrete pipe plant machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure reliable operation.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on a variety of industrial machines and systems.

Work with hydraulic motors, PLC-controlled valves, cylinders, gear boxes, and related components in a heavy industrial environment.

Set up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on CNC lathes and other machine shop equipment as required.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide repairs, installations, and adjustments.

Conduct troubleshooting on production equipment to quickly identify root causes of failures and implement effective solutions.

Carry out welding tasks, including stack welding, to repair or fabricate parts and supports for plant machinery.

Collaborate with a small maintenance team to plan, prioritize, and complete maintenance work, including urgent repairs.

Work independently when needed, making sound decisions to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.

Support construction, installation, and modification of equipment and systems within the manufacturing facility.

Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

Follow all safety procedures and plant policies while working in a unionized, heavy industrial environment.

Adapt to changing workload and respond to unexpected maintenance needs, including occasional extended shifts and weekend work.
Essential Skills

Journeyman Millwright certification or status as a 3rd or 4th year Millwright apprentice, or equivalent non-ticketed experience sufficient to work independently.

Proven experience working in a heavy industrial, production, or manufacturing environment.

Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery.

Solid experience with hydraulic systems, including hydraulic motors, valves, cylinders, and gear boxes.

Experience working with pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues efficiently and safely.

Experience operating and setting up CNC lathes, including running the machine and performing basic adjustments.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Hands-on experience in welding and maintenance tasks on plant equipment.

Demonstrated ability to work independently within a small maintenance team.

Comfort working in a construction or manufacturing industry environment with heavy equipment and moving machinery.

Work Environment
This position is based in a plant located in Calgary. You will work primarily on a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional requirements to work until 4:30 p.m. and some weekends based on workload and unexpected maintenance needs. While advance notice is usually provided, urgent plant issues may require flexibility and extended hours. The work setting is a heavy industrial manufacturing environment with large machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, CNC lathes, and other equipment typical of a concrete production plant. You will spend most of your time on the shop floor and around production equipment, following safety protocols and using appropriate personal protective equipment suitable for an industrial plant
