Duties
We are looking for people who are team players. The work is diverse and challenging. You will be expected to be able to assist a Heritage Restoration Craftsperson in completing building repair and restoration projects at National Historic Sites in Manitoba. Key duties include assisting with:
- Replacing a historic reproduction boardwalk.
- Repairing and installing a historic reproduction fence.
- General historic building repair and painting.
- Constructing an orientation and interpretive display platform and wood-frame bathroom facility
- Other repairs and maintenance to historic buildings at historic sites in Manitoba.
Work environment
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada. The Manitoba Field Unit manages a number of these assets and has employees located across the province.
The Maintenance Worker position works primarily out of Lower Fort Garry and candidates will be expected to report to Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site (St.

Intent of the process
This process will be used to staff a full time, term position for 20 weeks, starting immediately. A list of qualified candidates will be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Parks Canada Agency, whose tenure could vary depending on the position being staffed (i.e. determinate period or indeterminate) and whose language requirements, linguistic profiles and security requirements could also vary.

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in general labouring tasks which relate to carpentry, painting, and small landscaping projects.
- Experience using hand and power tools to conduct carpentry types of repairs.
Applied / assessed at a later date
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures, and regulations related to the operation of various carpentry tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Knowledge of carpentry repairs, maintenance, and construction activities associated with building and grounds repairs and operations.
