Vehicle Acquisition Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Vehicle Acquisition Specialist to help grow our used vehicle inventory through direct consumer purchasing, trade-in opportunities, referral programs, and digital acquisition channels. This role is responsible for identifying, appraising, and acquiring quality pre-owned vehicles while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
The ideal candidate is skilled in relationship building, vehicle valuation, and negotiation, with a passion for helping customers and a strong understanding of the automotive marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Acquisition
* Proactively source and acquire used vehicles from:
* Private sellers
* Existing customers
* Service drive opportunities
* Trade-ins
* Online lead platforms
* Referral and marketing campaigns
* Respond promptly to inbound acquisition leads generated through online advertising, website submissions, and third-party platforms.
* Conduct vehicle appraisals and present competitive purchase offers.
* Negotiate vehicle purchases while ensuring a positive customer experience.
* Follow up consistently with prospective sellers to maximize conversion rates.
Customer Relationship Management
* Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers.
* Educate customers on the vehicle selling process and dealership purchasing programs.
* Deliver a transparent, professional, and customer-centric experience.
* Generate referrals through exceptional service and relationship management.
Vehicle Appraisal & Market Analysis
* Inspect and evaluate vehicle condition, history, and market value.
* Utilize valuation tools such as Canadian Black Book, AutoTrader Market Insights, Kelley Blue Book, or dealership software.
* Analyze local market trends to ensure competitive and profitable purchasing decisions.
* Assess reconditioning costs and marketability when determining vehicle values.
Inventory Support
* Work closely with the sales and inventory management teams to identify acquisition priorities.
* Ensure acquired vehicles align with dealership inventory needs and sales objectives.
* Maintain accurate records of acquisitions and pipeline activity.
* Coordinate vehicle inspections, transportation, and documentation as required.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Complete purchase agreements and required documentation accurately.
* Maintain CRM records and acquisition tracking reports.
* Ensure compliance with dealership policies and provincial regulations.
* Meet or exceed established acquisition targets and performance goals.
Qualifications
Required
* Previous experience in automotive sales, vehicle acquisition, appraisal, customer service, or a related field.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to build trust and rapport with customers.
* Basic understanding of vehicle valuation and market trends.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills.
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred
* Experience in used vehicle acquisition or appraisal.
* Familiarity with CRM systems and inventory management software.
* Knowledge of online vehicle acquisition platforms and digital lead generation.
* OMVIC certification (or willingness to obtain, where applicable).
