Overview:
North York Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time Secondary School Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Ontario Grade 12 Mathematics and Science courses. The ability to teach additional senior-level courses, such as Media Arts, History, Economics, or other Ontario secondary school subjects, will be considered a strong asset.
Employment Term:
- September 2026 – June 2027
- Includes a three-week Christmas break and the standard March Break.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Ontario Grade 12 Mathematics and Science courses following the Ontario curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials.
- Foster a positive, engaging, and student-centered learning environment.
- Monitor and support a small number of online courses for international students through our Learning Management System.
- Maintain accurate student records and communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development, and other school activities as required.
Teaching Schedule:
- Three on-site classes per day (75 minutes each).
- Additional weekly monitoring of a limited number of online courses.
- School hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
- Combined teaching responsibilities constitute a full-time workload.
Qualifications:
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is preferred.
- Experience teaching senior Ontario secondary school Mathematics and/or Science courses.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Experience with online learning platforms (e.g., Moodle) is an asset.
- Ability to teach additional senior secondary subjects is considered an asset.
- Experience teaching international students or English language learners is considered an asset
