Solution Services is hiring an experienced Vac Truck Operator to join our Fort Saskatchewan operations.
This is a full-time field position supporting industrial cleaning, shutdowns and turnarounds, tank and vessel cleaning which include CSE cleaning, waste removal, fluid transfers, spill response, and other vacuum-truck services throughout Alberta.
You will operate combo-vac equipment while working alongside experienced supervisors, swampers, and project teams. We are looking for a dependable operator who understands that professional equipment operation includes safe execution, accurate documentation, strong communication, and taking care of the unit.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
· Valid Alberta Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license with air-brake endorsement
· Acceptable five-year commercial driver’s abstract
· Minimum one year of direct vac truck, vacuum truck, or combo-vac operating experience
· Experience working in oil and gas, industrial services, plant maintenance, or a comparable field environment
· Valid Standard First Aid
· Valid H2S Alive
· Valid Common Safety Orientation, or CSO
· Valid Fall Protection
· Valid Confined Space Entry certification
· Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English for safety documentation, permits, radio communication, and client interaction
· Ability to work variable schedules and travel to field locations as operational requirements change
· Ability to meet company and client pre-employment and site-access requirements
Class 1 drivers and applicants with experience operating multiple types of vacuum, combo, pressure, or fluid-handling equipment will receive additional consideration.
Responsibilities
The Vac Truck Operator will be responsible for:
· Safely driving and operating vacuum trucks, combo-vac units, and associated equipment
· Completing pre-trip, post-trip, and equipment inspections to meet DOT & regulation requirements.
· Identifying equipment deficiencies and reporting maintenance requirements promptly
· Rigging vacuum hoses, pressure lines, fittings, valves, and related equipment
· Performing liquid, sludge, slurry, and solid-material removal
· Supporting tank, vessel, sump, piping, and industrial equipment cleaning
· Completing fluid transfers, waste loading, unloading, transportation, and disposal activities
· Directing and working closely with the assigned swamper or assistant
· Participating in field-level hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, permitting, and client safety processes
· Maintaining driver logs, field tickets, inspection records, disposal documentation, and other required paperwork
· Communicating professionally with supervisors, dispatch, client representatives, and disposal facilities
· Maintaining a clean, organized, and job-ready unit
· Following company procedures, transportation regulations, environmental requirements, and site-specific rules
· Supporting shutdown, turnaround, emergency-response, and scheduled maintenance projects as required
Work Environment and Schedule
This position is based out of our Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta location and involves work at industrial and oil and gas facilities throughout the region and across Alberta.
Project requirements may include:
· Day or night shifts
· Extended shifts and overtime
· Weekend and statutory-holiday work
· Out-of-town travel
· Short-notice mobilizations
· Outdoor work in changing weather conditions
· Physically demanding hose handling, climbing, bending, lifting, and equipment setup
· Work around industrial equipment, process facilities, and controlled work areas
Schedules will vary according to client requirements and project activity.
