Under supervision of Manager, the Unit Clerk provides comprehensive clerical and administrative support to the multidisciplinary team within the Calgary Eating Disorder Inpatient Unit, Unit 59 (currently Unit 32) at Foothills Medical Centre. The role functions as a central communication point for the unit, ensuring timely and professional interaction with staff. In addition to core unit clerk responsibilities, the position provides administrative support to program operations. The Unit Clerk contributes to a highly organized, efficient, and patient-centered environment within a specialized inpatient medical and mental health setting. Of note: The new unit (U59) will be opening in late fall 2026- and flexibility will be needed to provide support across the program (Alberta Children's hospital & Richmond Road Diagnostic treatment center).
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Previous Unit Clerk in an inpatient setting. Knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, WFM, Connect Care, IAM and Clinibase. Fluency in spoken and written English. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a reception and coordination role. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Flexibility to respond to changing priorities/ staff needs. Demonstrated ability to handle change effectively and adapt to frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail, including minute-taking and documentation. Commitment to supporting patient care within a family-centered, recovery-oriented approach for adolescent and adult individuals with eating disorders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous medical and mental health inpatient unit clerk experience. Experience supporting administrative functions such as onboarding, scheduling, and meeting coordination. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment.
