Link and Learn Therapy Clinic is seeking an Alberta registered Speech Language Pathologist to work with our clients with disabilities. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide assessment and intervention services to children with developmental, cognitive, physical, and communication disabilities and support children in improving speech, language, social communication, and feeding/swallowing skills to enhance their participation in home, school, and community settings. The SLP will be working in conjunction with aides, respite workers, behaviour therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists to provide holistic care for these clients. Driver’s license and access to a car would be a huge asset as you would be administering mobile service at clients’ homes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments for children with diverse disabilities
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and developmental needs
- Provide direct therapy services (individual and group sessions)
- Support children with conditions such as autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and speech/language disorders
- Use evidence-based practices and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems when appropriate
- Collaborate with parents, aids, teachers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, and other professionals
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate clinical documentation and progress reports
- Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Program Plan (IPP) meetings
- Provide training and coaching to families and school staff to support communication goals in daily environments
- Adapt therapy approaches to meet sensory, behavioral, and physical needs of children
- Maintain compliance with ethical, legal, and professional standards of practice
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- Current licensure/registration with the relevant provincial/state regulatory body
- Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably children with disabilities
- Knowledge of AAC systems and assistive communication technologies
- Strong understanding of developmental disorders and neurodiversity-affirming practices
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
- CPR/First Aid certification (often preferred or required in school/clinical settings)
- Valid driver's license
