Job Description
DMT Geosciences Ltd. is looking for an Intermediate/Senior Mining Engineer to join our Calgary office.
The successful candidate will support mining consulting projects for Canadian clients and selected international assignments. The work will include mine planning support, technical reviews, due diligence, project development support, operational assessments, feasibility-related work, proposal support, project coordination, and client communication.
This is a hands-on consulting role for a mining engineer who can work with clients, prepare clear technical documents, support project delivery, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review mining engineering deliverables for mining projects.
- Support open-pit and/or underground mine planning, including layouts, production schedules, development plans, equipment assumptions, and material movement.
- Contribute to technical studies, due diligence reviews, operational assessments, project development work, and feasibility-related assignments.
- Prepare and review mining inputs for quantities, productivity, operating assumptions, costs, risks, and opportunities.
- Support mining method selection, sequencing, access concepts, infrastructure requirements, and practical engineering recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, memoranda, calculations, proposal sections, work plans, estimates, and client deliverables.
- Work with geologists, geotechnical engineers, hydrogeologists, geophysicists, environmental specialists, and other technical contributors.
- Support client meetings, site visits, technical discussions, and project reviews.
- Assist with scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and proposals.
- Coordinate with DMT’s Canadian and international teams as required.
- Travel within Canada and internationally for project work, site visits, and client meetings.
Qualifications
- P.Eng. in good standing with APEGA.
- Degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Mining industry experience in consulting, operations, mine planning, owner’s team roles, project development, engineering studies, or technical advisory work.
- Experience preparing or supporting technical reports, proposals, estimates, scopes of work, or project schedules.
- Understanding of mining project lifecycles, including planning, development, operations, optimization, and closure.
- Ability to work with clients, engineers, site teams, managers, and technical specialists.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
- Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.
Assets
- Experience with open-pit and/or underground mining projects.
- Mining consulting or professional services experience.
- Experience with Canadian mining projects, operators, consultants, or regulatory expectations.
- Experience with mine planning, project development, operational improvement, due diligence, feasibility support, or owner’s engineering support.
- Exposure to geology, geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, geophysics, resource development, mine infrastructure, mine closure, or environmental workflows.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary or multi-office technical teams.
- Experience with mine planning or engineering software.
- PMP designation or project management training.
