About the Job:
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical and electronic systems across the Resort. This role encompasses both high voltage infrastructure and low-voltage electronic control systems and requires a versatile professional capable of working safely and effectively in a demanding, outdoor resort environment.
Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including high voltage distribution (600V and above), motor controls, switchgear, transformers, and panel boards across resort facilities.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electronic control systems including PLCs, VFDs (variable frequency drives), SCADA systems, and automated snowmaking and lift control systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on chairlifts, snowmaking equipment, grooming machinery, and facility HVAC and lighting systems.
- Respond to electrical faults and emergency breakdowns, including after-hours and on-call situations, to minimize operational downtime.
- Read, interpret, and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
- Ensure all electrical work is completed in compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), NL Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and Resort safety standards.
- Conduct inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records and electrical documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors, equipment suppliers, and other trades as required.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new infrastructure and capital projects as the Resort expands its four-season operations.
Physical Demands of the Role:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time performing light to moderate physical tasks.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects with varying weights.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions such as bending, reaching, crouching, and twisting.
- Ability to climb stairs and navigate uneven surfaces, including snow-covered or icy areas.
- Manual dexterity required to operate basic equipment and tools.
- Must be comfortable working with heights.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Journeyperson Industrial Electrician certification issued or recognized in Newfoundland and Labrador (Red Seal certification preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of post-apprenticeship experience in an industrial or heavy commercial environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with high voltage systems (600V+), including distribution, protection, and switching.
- Hands-on experience with electronic control systems, including PLCs, VFDs, and automated control panels.
- Solid knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable NL safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Valid Newfoundland and Labrador driver's license.
- Experience in a ski resort, amusement park, or similar recreational facility environment would be preferred.
- Familiarity with snowmaking systems, chairlift electrical systems, or related resort infrastructure preferred.
- Experience with SCADA or remote monitoring systems would be considered an asset.
- First Aid / CPR certification preferred.
- Exposure to low-voltage systems including fire alarm, security, or communications infrastructure would be an asset.
- Availability for on-call and after-hours emergency response.
