Site & Material Coordinator
ABBL Hardware Inc. | Calgary, Alberta
ABOUT ABBL HARDWARE
ABBL Hardware is one of Canada's leading suppliers of commercial doors, frames, and hardware. Since 2005, we've built a reputation for reliability, technical expertise, and service across Calgary's commercial construction market.
We're a full-service operation — from hardware schedules and shop drawings through to supply, installation, and certified fire door inspections. Our clients include architects, general contractors, and project owners working on commercial projects of all sizes across the city. We work on Division 8 and Division 10 scopes and take pride in being a step above the rest on every project we're part of.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a physical, site-based role — not an office position. You'll be on active commercial job sites every day, coordinating the delivery, staging, and distribution of commercial doors, frames, and hardware to our installation crews.
You'll be the person who makes sure the right materials get to the right floor at the right time — and that the labor supporting that work is properly directed and accounted for. Organization, physical capability, and clear on-site leadership are what this role is built on.
If you're someone who thrives in a construction environment, takes pride in keeping things moving, and can lead a small team without being micromanaged — this is a strong opportunity with a well-established Calgary company.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Material Coordination & Staging
- Coordinate with the project management team to schedule material deliveries to active commercial job sites
- Receive deliveries on site and organize distribution of commercial doors, frames, and hardware to designated floors and locations
- Set up and maintain material staging areas, ensuring product is stored safely and accessibly for installation crews
- Count and maintain accurate inventory across sites, updating records after each distribution or cleanup
- Ensure packing slips are sent to the shop team for electronic receiving
- Review installation schedules and coordinate material distribution to align with the installation team's workflow
Labor Supervision
- Coordinate with labor agencies — booking workers, issuing purchase orders, and providing site-specific information
- Direct and supervise swampers and laborers on site, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently
- Provide clear on-site leadership so crews know exactly where to move materials and how to prioritize their work
- Log laborer hours and complete agency spreadsheets accurately and on time
Site Safety & Communication
- Complete and log hazard assessments for all active sites before work begins
- Conduct regular site walkthroughs to identify safety concerns, maintain organized staging areas, and update inventory counts
- Attend trades meetings as ABBL's on-site representative, providing delivery and distribution updates to the general contractor
- Follow up on any questions or issues related to ABBL's scope of work
- Maintain clear, timely communication with the project management team and installation crews on status and upcoming needs

You're comfortable on active commercial construction sites and you know how to lead people without making it complicated. You track details without being reminded, and you take ownership of your section of the job the same way the installers take ownership of theirs.
