The Manager, Career Services will work with the Office of Student Services in the development, planning, promotion, execution, and evaluation of a comprehensive Career Services program as well as management of the Career Services department in Vancouver. The Manager, Career Services provides students with guidance and counseling to address their career-related needs and oversees the graduate and undergraduate internship programs. The Manager, Career Services facilitates workshops, organizes career fairs, facilitates internships, manages jobs postings, provides one-on-one career exploration sessions to students and alumni, develops external employer and industry relations, and also engages in alumni relations development. This is a full-time position; hours will vary according to schedule. The Manager, Career Services will report to the Executive Director of Operations.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or degree in progress preferred.
2. Three to five years of progressive experience in career advisement, student services, human resources or recruitment.
3. Multicultural experience, cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to speak multiple languages is also preferred.
4. Experience working with domestic and international students.
5. Experience working with mature students and foreign trained professionals.
6. Professional skills for dealing with people in an advisement situation; outreach and marketing within a business environment; making public presentations for instructional purposes; and event or project management.
7. Knowledgeable about the Canadian labor market and human relations issues relevant to recruitment and employment.
8. Strong marketing skills in order to promote FDU graduates and to recruit employers to participate in FDU events.
9. Experience organizing, promoting and executing student-focused activities and events.
10. Excellent interpersonal skills with good familiarity of the Vancouver area and community events, activities and services.
11. Positive attitude and a team player.
12. Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking capabilities.
13. Knowledge of MS Office programs and office etiquette.
14. Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record in accordance with the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy. A DMV check will be required at the time of hire and thereafter as deemed appropriate by the University. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing a DMV check.
15. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
16. Canadian residency or work permit required.
