Overview
Reporting to the Manager of Projects, the Project Manager, is an integral part of the ALCO Energy Solutions team. The Project Manager is a key leader within ALCO Energy Solutions, accountable for the overall delivery and performance of complex projects. This role is responsible for establishing execution strategies, aligning cross functional teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with client requirements and industry standards. The Project Manager provides strategic oversight across engineering, procurement, and fabrication, serving as the primary point of accountability for client relationships, commercial performance, and project outcomes. This position drives risk management, change control, and decision making, while fostering collaboration between internal teams and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects of varying size, scope, and complexity, ensuring successful execution from kickoff through commissioning and startup
- Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including risk assessments, schedules, resource allocation, procurement strategies, and budget management to meet project objectives and contractual requirements
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineering, drafting, procurement, and fabrication) to ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule and in alignment with project scope
- Interface with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to establish clear expectations, manage technical and commercial communication, and lead regular progress and reporting meetings
- Monitor project performance against schedule, budget, and key milestones, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to maintain project delivery
- Oversee engineering and technical activities, including review of P&IDs, datasheets, material requisitions, and vendor documents, ensuring compliance with client specifications, industry codes, and ALCO standards
- Manage procurement and vendor relationships, including long lead equipment selection, bid evaluations, and ensuring timely delivery of compliant vendor packages
- Lead change management processes, including preparation and approval of change orders, while maintaining cost control and ensuring project financial targets are achieved
- Ensure quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including participation in HAZOPs, design reviews, and coordination between office and fabrication teams to resolve technical and execution issues
- Oversee project execution in fabrication and field phases, including shop coordination, inspections, commissioning, and startup support, ensuring systems are delivered safely and in accordance with design
- Prepare and present project reports, including progress updates, cost forecasts, and performance metrics, while maintaining accurate project documentation and records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
- Professional engineering license (P.Eng / P.L. Eng) or ability to register
- PMP certification is an asset
- Minimum 10 years experience as a Project Manager required
- Strong organizational and communication skills; Self motivated and detail oriented
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practices in gas processing and fabrication
