HDD Locator – Horizontal Directional Drilling Locator
About Us Paulson Development Ltd. is an underground utility construction company specializing in horizontal directional drilling, fibre optic installation, and underground infrastructure. We're growing, and we're looking for an experienced HDD Locator to join our crew.
What You'll Do
- Operate the locator for precise utility locating during HDD operations
- Work closely with the Driller to plan bore paths and identify potential underground conflicts
- Maintain clear, continuous communication with the Driller throughout the bore shot
- Help install underground conduit while protecting existing infrastructure and the public
- Accurately interpret utility locates, coordinate permits, and confirm all locates are in hand before work begins
- Read and follow blueprints and work orders
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment and support vehicles
- Complete all required daily paperwork
- Follow company policies, safety standards, and environmental guidelines
What You Bring
- 2+ years of experience in locating and HDD drilling (required)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (required)
- Experience with Vermeer drills
- Hands-on experience with fibre optic installation
- Solid knowledge of ground disturbance procedures and safe excavation practices
- Strong commitment to health and safety
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel out of town during the week or occasional weekends
Nice to Have
- Class 1 Driver's License
- Current safety tickets: CSTS 2020, First Aid, Ground Disturbance, WHMIS 2015 (company will provide any additional required safety training before start)
