Summary: DMC is currently looking for a Junior Designer, Mechanical to join our team on a full-time permanent basis, based in our Thunder Bay, Ontario Office. The Junior Designer, Mechanical will be responsible for design work of limited scope and complexity requiring application of prescribed engineering methods under the supervision of a more senior designer or engineer. Accuracy in design and completeness in the presentation of data is required.
Responsibilities:
- Receives continued on the job training through support of more senior designers and engineers.
- Determines design criteria for minor structures, systems and equipment items and prepares specifications for same in accordance with manuals.
- Analyses minor engineering problems and prepares sketches for drafting personnel.
- Prepares standard input data for computerized solutions to engineering problems.
- Position is normally based in an engineering office.
- Makes decisions within established guidelines, procedures and practices.
- Works under supervision and duties are assigned with detailed oral and occasionally written instructions as to methods and procedures to be followed.
- Complex designs are checked while work is in progress and all work is checked upon completion.
- Gives occasional guidance to more junior employees assigned to a common task.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Preparation of technical documentation using AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit.
- Work and Collaborate with the mechanical team as well as other disciplines.
- Create and review CAD drawings as per project/client requirements.
Qualifications:
- A technical college graduation with up to four (4) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of studies and related experience.
- Knowledge of computer applications for engineering design is required.

- Salary Range is expected to be between: $54,600 – $82,150
