Position Summary
The Conveyancer (Junior) supports the real estate team by assisting with all aspects of the conveyancing process, from file opening to completion, while delivering excellent client service along the way. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to follow firm precedents to prepare accurate documentation for straightforward files.
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a team of experienced legal professionals. The Conveyancer (Junior) will contribute to the smooth and efficient processing of real estate transactions by managing simple files under supervision, managing the real estate intake process, and performing essential support tasks such as bank runs and administrative duties. This position is open at our Royal Oak location.
Accountabilities
- Manage all real estate intake tasks, including client communication, opening and closing files, conflict checks, client identification, and preparing initial documentation.
- Manage straightforward conveyancing files, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, and compliance with legal requirements.
- Prepare, organize, and draft legal documents for property transactions, including transfers, contracts, and agreements.
- Perform analysis of property titles and other relevant documentation to identify potential issues or discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with clients and external stakeholders, gathering information, scheduling appointments, providing updates, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Administer client files, including scanning, electronic filing, billing, and invoicing.
- Perform bank runs and document deliveries for the real estate team.
- Keep current with changes in property law and firm processes to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Provide general administrative support, as needed.
Who You Are:
- 1-3 years professional experience in a Conveyancing role at a law firm.
- Demonstrated skills in data analysis, able to identify potential issues before they manifest.
- Strong client focus, the ability to build and maintain positive relationships ensuring trust is built and retained.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.,), BC Online, LTSA, BriefConvey, and Unity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate at all levels of an organization, internally and externally.
- The ability to always practice sound discretion and judgement.
- Legal Assistant or Paralegal certification or diploma considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
