SANITATION WORKER

Status: Permanent, Full time
Hours: Night Shift 9pm – 5:30am (5 days a week, including weekends)
Wage: $21.00/hr

Focus
The sanitation worker is responsible for ensuring safe and effective cleaning by performing various tasks to be completed thoroughly with minimal supervision. It plays an important role as they are responsible for all cleaning in the warehouse which has a large impact on food safety.
Key Accountabilities:
- Reading chemical labels or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to learn how to properly handle chemicals they will be using
- CIP (cleaning in place) and COP (cleaning out of place)
- Communicating to Food Safety Coordinator, Team leads, and Supervisors
- Create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment
- Cleaning equipment and food processing machines like giro and compac line.
- Identify and document of any broken equipment, tool, and cleaning them.
- Understand the standard Operating Procedures and Inspection regulations
- Promote health and safety in the workplace
Key Attributes and Skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to multitask
- Understand and comply with food safety and sanitation standards
Education and Experience
- High school or equivalent
- 1 year sanitation experience with food manufacturing & processing equipment is considered an asset
Working conditions
- There is a possibility of split days off, if required
- Hours may be irregular and in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week
- Work in cooler environment
Physical requirements
- This can be a physically demanding job requiring the ability to frequently lift and carry up to 40lbs
- Frequent bending is involved while cleaning machines.
- Must be able to take apart and reassemble the production machine parts to clean them properly.
- Prolonged periods of walking and standing
- Ability to operate heavy cleaning equipment
