Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Red Seal Millwright to join our team as an Apprentice Overhead Crane Technician. This position is designed for an experienced Millwright interested in developing specialized expertise in overhead crane inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical components.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
- Assist with crane installations, upgrades, and modernization projects.
- Respond to customer service calls and emergency breakdowns.
- Travel to customer sites using a company vehicle.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Progress toward independently performing crane inspections and repairs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Red Seal Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) certification.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Skills & Competencies
- Previous experience working with overhead cranes, hoists, lifting equipment, or industrial maintenance systems.
- Electrical troubleshooting experience in industrial environments.
- Experience working at heights and in active industrial facilities.
- Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, First Aid, or related safety certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, parts, and equipment.
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capable of climbing ladders, accessing elevated work areas, and standing for extended periods.
