The Opportunity
We're looking for a creative, strategic, and highly versatile Marketing & Brand Consultant to join our team as an Independent Consultant.
This role is ideal for an experienced marketing professional who enjoys working across a diverse portfolio of clients, industries, and projects. Whether you're already an independent consultant, agency professional, or marketing leader looking to take on additional consulting work, you'll bring a strategic mindset, strong execution skills, and the ability to work autonomously. We're looking for someone who understands the full marketing ecosystem and can help bring brands to life across multiple channels.
You know how to sit down with a business owner, understand their vision, identify opportunities, develop a strategy, and then help bring that strategy to life through branding, content, social media, websites, digital marketing, influencer partnerships, and customer experience. You understand that great marketing isn't just about making something look good. It's about creating meaningful connections that drive awareness, engagement, and growth.
What You'll Do
- Work directly with Black Sheep clients to understand their business, goals, audience, and vision
- Develop integrated marketing and brand strategies that support business growth and align with organizational goals
- Translate client ideas into compelling brand stories and customer experiences
- Create content strategies that drive engagement and brand awareness
- Develop and manage social media content across multiple platforms
- Create graphics, promotional materials, presentations, and digital assets
- Support website content development and user experience recommendations
- Identify and execute influencer and creator partnership opportunities
- Monitor industry trends, platform developments, and new tools to uncover opportunities for clients
- Develop campaign concepts, promotions, launches, and marketing initiatives
- Track performance and measure results to demonstrate return on investment
- Provide strategic recommendations based on data, analytics, and industry trends
- Collaborate with photographers, videographers, designers, and other creative partners when required
- Connect marketing initiatives to broader business goals, growth opportunities, and customer outcomes
- Build trusted relationships with clients through proactive communication, responsiveness, and high-quality work
- Adapt quickly to changing client needs, priorities, and project requirements across a variety of industries
- Independently manage projects and priorities, ensuring client deliverables are completed on time and aligned with business objectives
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, branding, content creation, digital marketing and creative strategy
- Demonstrated success developing and executing integrated marketing and brand strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and business growth
- Strong experience working with hospitality, restaurants, tourism, retail, lifestyle, wellness, entertainment, or experience-driven brands (restaurant experience is strongly preferred)
- Deep understanding of the full marketing ecosystem, including brand strategy, content marketing, social media, digital advertising, email marketing, websites, and customer experience
- Strong graphic design and visual communication skills, with the ability to create polished, on-brand marketing assets
- Experience creating content that drives engagement, awareness, and business results
- Strong understanding of branding, storytelling, customer experience, and audience development
- Deep knowledge of social media platforms and emerging trends
- Experience leading marketing initiatives from strategy through execution
- Strong understanding of marketing analytics, performance metrics, and ROI
- Ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- Ability to build trusted relationships with clients and confidently engage with business owners and leaders
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Self-starter who thrives independently with minimal oversight and brings new ideas to the table
Technical Skills & Platforms
We're looking for someone with strong marketing fundamentals and experience across a broad range of tools and technologies. Expertise in every platform listed below is not required Canva
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro)
- CapCut or similar video editing platforms
- Figma
- Meta Business Suite and social media management platforms
- Google Analytics and performance reporting tools
- Google Ads and other digital advertising platforms
- Content scheduling and social media management tools such as Later, Hootsuite, or Buffer
- WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, or other website platforms
- Email marketing and marketing automation platforms such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Constant Contact, or HubSpot
