Intermediate Civil Designers & Technologists | Hamilton
The Intermediate Civil Designer/Technologist is responsible for assisting in the development and preparation of engineering designs for private, land development, and municipal development projects, utilizing AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and ensuring design drawings conform to specifications and design data. Responsibilities include preparing construction drawings in compliance with established codes and standards, generating accurate plans and details with guidance from project managers and engineers, and maintaining technical files. Attention to detail is essential to ensure work meets high-quality standards and adheres to Civil 3D and AutoCAD guidelines. This role involves completing assigned tasks in Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD under the supervision of more experienced team members.

What You’ll Be Working On
- Assist in the preparation of engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data with minimal supervision using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other design software.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop design solutions that meet client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Ensure work products meet high-quality standards and comply with applicable engineering and drafting standards.
- Perform design calculations and analysis related to grading, drainage, utilities, and other aspects of civil engineering design, and prepare engineering design reports such as functional servicing reports and technical memos in support of proposed engineering solutions.
- Check and verify design drawings to ensure conformance with specifications and design data.
- Support the preparation of permit applications, environmental assessments, and other project documentation.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Participate in meetings and presentations with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and advancements in civil engineering technology.
- Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the team and company objectives.

What You Bring
- Graduate of a Civil Engineering Technology program with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience working in a consulting engineering environment would be an asset, including co-op experience.
- Knowledgeable in the preparation of grading, servicing, and plan/profile drawings.
- Experience and knowledge in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Experience in land development, site plan, and municipal design.
- Registered with OACETT, with full certification preferred.
- Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Eager to learn and take on new challenges, with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed.
