Background:
Silver Star Metal Fabricating Inc. in Mississauga is a high-end custom metal fabricator that has been in business since 1984. We specialize in stainless steel products such as counter tops, backsplashes, sinks, cabinets, carts, racks, stands, pedestals, range hoods, baseboards, wall protection, trims, wall panels, metal cladding, etc.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise shop workers ensuring they utilize safe, proper, and efficient methods in fabricating products according to order specifications.

Create and manage the production schedule. Oversee job flow and ensure that a quality product is shipped complete and on-time.

Work together with management and engineering on the design and assembly of fabricated products.

Update management, engineers, and customers as required on the status of orders.

Oversee packaging and shipping of completed fabricated products.

Oversee raw materials and shop supplies. Provide a requisition to purchasing for materials and shop supplies as needed. Ensure materials and shop supplies are received as ordered and without any damage.

Assist in the shop as required, helping to move along jobs at various stations. Some of these stations may include welding, polishing, punching, laser cutting, drilling, tapping, etc.

Collaborate with installation crews on handling of product, timing, and supplies that may be required on site.

Design, measure, and sketch simple custom fabricated products.
Education (or Equivalent Work Experience):

Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch)

Bachelor of Architectural Studies (BAS)

Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng)

Mechanical Engineering Diploma
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 5 years experience in custom metal fabricating.

Must be familiar with Fabricating Tools, Equipment, & Machinery – Laser, Punch, Press Brake, Shear, TIG Welder, Polishing, Circular Saw, Horizontal Band Saw, Vertical Band Saw, Lathe, Surface Grinder, Plate Roller, Angle/Tube Roller, Spot Welder, and Drill Press.

Must have experience working with metals such a stainless steel (304, 316, 430), steel, and aluminum.

Must be responsible, precise, and have a passion for high quality workmanship.

Must be a team player capable of collaborating with others.

Must have knowledge of bend deductions, bend allowances, metal gauges, metal types, metal finishes, metal coatings, etc.

Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. The position will require daily interaction with customers.

Experience with Amada machinery is an asset.
