The Opportunity
As a Class 1 Driver / Folding Boom Crane Operator, you'll safely transport and deliver trusses, wall panels, engineered wood products, and timber packages to residential and commercial construction sites throughout British Columbia.
You will operate commercial vehicles and folding boom cranes while representing Kamloops Truss professionally with our customers and contractors. Every day offers a variety of job sites and challenges, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently while being part of a strong team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial vehicles and folding boom cranes.
- Deliver trusses, wall panels, engineered wood products, and timber packages to customer job sites.
- Safely unload materials using a folding boom crane.
- Complete deliveries in accordance with BC Crane Safe, CVSE, DOT, and WorkSafeBC requirements.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and daily crane inspections.
- Complete routine maintenance, lubrication, and housekeeping of trucks, trailers, cranes, and equipment.
- Secure loads and verify deliveries before departure.
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, dispatch, and production teams.
- Assist with Roller Truck and Shop Truck deliveries when required.
- Support loading, unloading, and general material handling activities as needed.
- Participate in company safety meetings, inspections, and ongoing training.
- Report equipment concerns, maintenance requirements, and safety issues promptly.
You're a Great Fit If You Have
- Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence.
- Clean Driver's Abstract.
- Valid BC Crane Safe Folding Boom Certification (22 Tonnes and Under), or the ability to obtain certification.
- Experience operating folding boom cranes, picker trucks, or boom trucks.
- Experience delivering building materials or construction products is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of load securement practices and transportation regulations.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment maintenance concerns.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs when required.
- Climb on trailers and equipment safely.
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Operate commercial vehicles and cranes for extended periods.
- Perform physical loading, unloading, and securement duties as required.
