Role: Shop Assistant

Role Overview
The Shop Assistant supports daily shop operations by preparing materials, assisting with CNC production, maintaining an efficient workflow, and contributing to a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in a shop, construction, manufacturing, or similar environment and is comfortable working with tools, machinery, and materials. This position offers the opportunity to further develop technical skills while contributing to the production of high-quality projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, organize, and stage materials for CNC processing and fabrication activities

Assist CNC operators and production staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects

Safely operate a forklift to move materials, products, and equipment throughout the shop and yard

Use hand tools and basic power tools to support fabrication, assembly, and general shop activities

Perform accurate material measurements, cutting, and preparation tasks as required

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop and yard environment

Support inventory management, including organizing materials, tools, and supplies

Complete other shop-related tasks and responsibilities as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes

Previous experience in a manufacturing, woodworking, construction, fabrication, or similar hands-on environment preferred

Previous experience with hand and power tools preferred

Experience operating a forklift is preferred, or willingness to learn

Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship

Physically capable of handling materials and working in an active manufacturing environment

Team player with a positive attitude

Reliable, organized, and able to manage tasks independently
Schedule and Working Conditions

Ability to work 7:30-5:15, Monday – Thursday, and every second Friday from 7:30-4:00, with a 20-minute paid coffee break and a 40-minute lunch each day

Ability to work on-site at Spearhead headquarters

Manual dexterity to operate a variety of tools on a regular basis

Ability to stand and move around the fabrication shop for work shifts

Ability to work in a workshop with exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise using required PPE, as needed

Ability to move and carry materials up to 30 lbs on a regular basis
Compensation
-
Pay rate is $25-$28 per hour commensurate with experience
