Raise is currently hiring a Mechanical Field Superintendent on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Description
The mechanical Field Superintendent in this role will be responsible for the oversight, safety, and execution of mechanical and piping scopes within their assigned area. This role involves managing contractor activities, driving schedule productivity, ensuring strict quality standards, and occasionally supervising direct field labor. Operating in a brownfield environment, the successful candidate will excel at bridging the gap between contractors and operations to ensure seamless, safe execution.
Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance Leadership

Safety Oversight: Serve as the primary authority ensuring all contractors and field personnel within your area work safely and strictly abide by all Cameco safety program requirements.

Incident Prevention: Actively promote a zero-harm safety culture on-site, performing regular safety walks and hazard assessments.

Execution & Workface Planning

Workface Planning: Review and/or develop detailed, field-level work plans according to Cameco’s structured workface planning processes to ensure constraints are removed before execution.

Contractor Oversight: Oversee contractor activities of a mechanical/piping nature, confirming that the work is completed safely, efficiently, and in strict adherence to all contract requirements.

Direct Supervision: In specific instances, perform direct supervision of field labor on mechanical and piping scopes of work, taking accountability for safety and high-quality craftsmanship.

Operational Coordination: Coordinate day-to-day field activities and scheduling between multiple contractors and the internal Cameco operations team to minimize disruptions.

Quality Assurance & Progress Monitoring

Inspections & Quality Control: Inspect completed mechanical/piping work to confirm compliance with engineering standards, identify deficiencies, and manage the punch list through to successful completion.

Productivity Management: Monitor field schedules and contractor productivity. Work collaboratively with contractor leadership and Cameco operations personnel to proactively resolve field issues and barriers.

Daily Administration: Review, validate, and approve contractor-submitted daily reports for labor, equipment, and material (LEM) utilization.
Qualifications

10+ years of heavy industrial construction or maintenance experience, with a proven track record in a Senior supervisory or superintendent capacity.

Previous experience working within a brownfield construction environment (live, operating industrial sites)

Strong background and multi-discipline experience with mechanical equipment installations and heavy piping scopes.

Ability to work cross-functionally with contractors, trades, and facility operations to remove bottlenecks.

Rigorous Attention to Detail: Sharp eye for mechanical QA/QC standards and administrative accuracy (LEMs, work plans).

Ability to deliver clear instructions, lead safety toolboxes, and effectively manage contractor relationships.

Education and Certifications

Journeyperson Status – Mechanical: Valid Journeyperson certification in a relevant mechanical trade (e.g., Millwright, Steamfitter/Pipefitter).

Journeyperson Status – E/I: Dual ticket or strong working knowledge/status in Electrical/Instrumentation is required.

Completed formal supervisor or leadership training program(s).

Nice-to-Have

CSO Designation: Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation is highly desirable.
