Position Summary
The Haliburton BIA Administrator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, marketing initiatives, events, member communications, and strategic goals of the Haliburton Business Improvement Area. Working closely with the Board of Directors, local businesses, the Municipality, and community partners, the Administrator helps strengthen and promote Haliburton as a vibrant destination to shop, dine, visit, and invest.
This position requires a highly organized, community-minded individual with strong communication, administrative, and project management skills who can work independently while building positive relationships throughout the community.
Key Responsibilities
Administration & Operations
- Manage the daily operations of the BIA office and administrative functions
- Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, reports, and correspondence for the Board of Directors
- Maintain organized records, help to develop membership databases, and financial documentation as required
- Coordinate board meetings, annual general meetings, and committee meetings
- Respond to member, resident, and visitor inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Business & Member Engagement
- Build strong relationships with BIA members, and community stakeholders
- Conduct regular outreach to local businesses to gather feedback and support member needs
- Promote participation in BIA initiatives, events, and beautification projects
- Act as a liaison between businesses, municipal staff, tourism organizations, and community groups
- Support local economic development and downtown revitalization initiatives
Marketing & Communications
- Manage the BIA’s social media accounts, website updates, newsletters, and promotional campaigns
- Create and distribute marketing materials, business spotlights, and event promotions
- Help strengthen the Haliburton BIA brand and visitor experience
- Coordinate photography, digital content, and advertising initiatives
- Assist with media relations and public communications
Events & Community Programming
- Coordinate and support community events, seasonal promotions, and downtown activations
- Work with vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners to ensure successful event delivery
- Assist with event logistics, permits, scheduling, and promotion
- Attend events, including occasional evenings and weekends
Beautification & Economic Development
- Support streetscape, beautification, and public realm improvement initiatives
- Identify opportunities for partnerships, and community enhancements
- Assist with projects that improve the attractiveness and economic vitality of downtown Haliburton
- Help encourage tourism, business retention, and business attraction initiatives
Qualifications
- Experience in administration, marketing, event coordination, economic development, tourism, or nonprofit/community organizations preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience with social media platforms, Canva, Microsoft Office, and website management
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of Haliburton and the local business community is considered an asset
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation preferred

Reports To
The Haliburton BIA Board of Directors through the Chair of the Board.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
Working Conditions: This is a part-time position with flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends to support events. The role involves both in-office and in-community responsibilities, requiring travel within Haliburton.
