Otter Wise Talent Solutions is currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Administrator on behalf of our client for an immediate temporary contract opportunity based in Leduc, Alberta.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is comfortable managing payroll for a large employee population. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting payroll operations during a busy period and must be able to quickly integrate into the team and work independently.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Administrator will be responsible for supporting end-to-end payroll processing for a workforce of approximately 500–600 employees. This role requires previous experience working within Workday and managing payroll within a high-volume environment.
This is a fully on-site position located in Leduc, Alberta, and is expected to last approximately two (2) months, with an immediate start preferred.
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Administration
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time for approximately 500–600 employees.
- Complete payroll data entry, validation, and reconciliation activities.
- Maintain employee payroll records within Workday.
- Process new hires, terminations, transfers, salary changes, and other employee transactions.
- Review and audit payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely manner.
- Process statutory deductions, garnishments, benefits, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Support payroll reconciliations and month-end activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment standards, payroll legislation, company policies, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to support payroll operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of payroll administration experience.
- Previous experience processing payroll for a workforce of 500+ employees.
- Mandatory experience using Workday Payroll.
- Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and payroll best practices.
- PCP designation or enrolment in the National Payroll Institute program is considered an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Experience supporting payroll in any of the following environments would be considered an asset:
- Large corporate organizations
- Unionized environments
- Multi-provincial payroll environments
- Shared services environments
- Manufacturing, industrial, or field-based workforces

Pay: $31.00-$35.00 per hour
