An established and highly respected privately owned organization is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its finance function and serve as a key strategic partner to executive leadership.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, reporting, planning, and controls while partnering across the business to support continued growth, profitability, and operational performance.
The Opportunity
As Controller, you will provide both strategic and hands-on leadership across the finance function. You will play a critical role in financial planning, business analysis, operational decision-making, and process improvement while mentoring and developing an established accounting team.
This role offers significant exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to influence key business initiatives, including financial strategy, systems optimization, forecasting, profitability analysis, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning activities.
- Provide strategic financial leadership and business insights to support executive decision-making.
- Develop, mentor, and strengthen a high-performing finance team.
- Partner with operational leaders to identify opportunities for efficiency, profitability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure strong financial controls, compliance, and governance across the organization.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
- Lead ERP optimization initiatives and support future technology enhancements.
- Drive forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning processes.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including financial institutions, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Deliver meaningful financial analysis and performance metrics that support business growth and operational excellence.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a commercially minded finance leader who combines strong technical accounting expertise with exceptional business acumen. You enjoy working closely with leadership teams, influencing strategy, and helping organizations achieve ambitious goals.
You bring:
- CPA designation required.
- 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
- Previous experience within manufacturing, inventory, cost accounting, or project-based environments.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing accounting teams.
- Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and business analysis.
- Advanced ERP and systems experience, including process improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of ASPE and Canadian financial reporting requirements.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
