Receiver / Purchaser – Western Sports Apparel & Promotions
Overview
Western Sports Apparel & Promotions, or WSAP, is the team, corporate apparel, and promotional products division of Western Cycle Source for Sports. We work with sports teams, schools, businesses, organizations, and community groups to provide customized apparel, uniforms, promotional products, and branded merchandise.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Receiver/Purchaser to support our warehouse, purchasing, and production operations. This role is responsible for receiving incoming shipments, placing vendor orders, organizing customer orders, managing inventory, and helping ensure products move efficiently through our facility.
The successful candidate will be organized, comfortable working with computers and inventory systems, and able to manage several priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position also works closely with our sales, purchasing, warehouse, and in-house production teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying quantities and products against purchase orders and packing slips
- Place vendor purchase orders accurately and within required timelines
- Monitor outstanding vendor orders and follow up on shipment delays, shortages, or discrepancies
- Sort, organize, and distribute incoming customer orders
- Match received products to the correct customer, sales order, or production job
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with inventory counts and adjustments
- Organize products for embroidery, screen printing, heat application, and other in-house production processes
- Assist the in-house production team with small tasks as needed, including preparing, sorting, folding, packaging, or moving products
- Pick, pack, and prepare completed customer orders for pickup or shipment
- Prepare shipping documents and coordinate outbound shipments
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing inventory
- Communicate with vendors and internal team members regarding order status, shortages, substitutions, and delivery timelines
- Keep receiving, storage, and order-staging areas clean, organized, and safe
- Support other warehouse, purchasing, and order-fulfillment duties as required
Requirements
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving, purchasing, inventory management, warehousing, retail operations, or a related role is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to stay organized while managing multiple customer and vendor orders
- Comfortable using computers, email, point-of-sale systems, inventory software, vendor websites, and online ordering platforms
- Basic math skills for inventory counts, quantities, measurements, and order verification
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to identify problems, investigate discrepancies, and follow through until they are resolved
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Experience working with apparel, sporting goods, promotional products, or customized merchandise would be considered an asset
