Thompson Okanagan Community Services Co-Operative (TOCSC) is looking to hire a Direct Support Professional for a female with Diverse Abilities, residing in her own home. We are a CARF accredited agency, and utilize a person-centered support model with focus on constructing healthy, positive relationships for all persons-served.
This position is considered a "Live-In" position under the BC Employment Standards Act. Support Workers are not expected to be awake throughout the entire shift and are provided a staff room/bed to sleep in. However, if the individual required assistance overnight, the support worker would be expected to provide essential support when needed.
Person specific training is provided; however, applicants must be comfortable providing full personal care to adults, and be able to support someone who communicates through challenging aggressive behaviours.
Pay and Benefits:
- $300-$350/day

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Aid with activities of daily living, medication administration and personal care as needed
- Assist the individual to maintain the household, including food preparation and housekeeping
- Support individual to achieve their goals and pursue their leisure activities
- Empower the individual’s abilities while promoting their independence and socially valued roles
Skills:
- Ability to work independently
- Competent communication and decision-making
- Willingness to adapt and learn
Requirements:
- Valid First Aid Certificate *Can be obtained during training period*
- Clear Criminal Record check processed within our office
- TOCSC Medical clearance form completed by physician
- TB test (to be completed within probationary period)
- MUST HAVE Valid Driver's License and vehicle for work purposes
- Safe driving history
- QR Code - fully vaccinated for COVID
