Our client is an established Tier 1 automotive manufacturing company based in Strathroy, Ontario, specializing in magnesium and aluminum castings. They operate with a high-performing team and are seeking a Plant Controller to lead their finance and IT functions. This is a fantastic opportunity to take full ownership of plant-level finance, work closely with the CFO, and make a real impact in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities of the role will include but are not limited to:
Reporting to the CFO, the Plant Controller will lead the finance and IT functions at the plant level. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: overseeing all accounting operations (AP, AR, payroll, general ledger); preparing and reviewing financial statements; leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; maintaining internal controls and supporting annual audits; managing budgets and ensuring financial/departmental goals are achieved; overseeing plant IT systems to ensure they are effective, efficient, and compliant; leading, coaching, and managing the Plant Accounting and IT teams; supporting working capital management and providing global support to all locations; responding to all external reporting needs (shareholder, corporate, government); facilitating change management and cross-functional communication; and other special projects as required.
Requirements
Must Have: Must Have: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business; CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA designation (or international equivalent); 5+ years of progressive automotive manufacturing (Tier 1) experience; proven experience in accounting and supervising a team; strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, ERP systems, and accounting software; strong understanding of accounting practices and manufacturing cost accounting; excellent communication skills (oral and written); ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; ability to travel as required
Nice to Have: Nice to Have: Experience with Plex ERP; background in environmental management systems (ISO 14001); experience with government grants or SR&ED programs; strong project management and delegation skills
