Buyer | Manufacturing | Custom Production Environment
Confidential manufacturing organization supporting a highly structured just in time production model building custom office furniture.
This role is best suited for someone who is highly organized, detail driven, and comfortable managing purchasing in a fast paced production environment where timing and accuracy directly impact daily shipments.
Most products are custom built. Materials such as fabrics, foams, substrates, sub assemblies, and components move through multiple suppliers and production steps. Many orders involve dependent purchasing actions that must be completed in sequence to support manufacturing flow.
What you will do
- Manage end to end purchase orders for raw materials, components, sub assemblies, and outsourced production processes
- Oversee multi step purchasing workflows where one order triggers dependent follow up actions across multiple vendors
- Ensure no missed steps in the purchasing process including secondary purchase orders tied to production flow
- Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers for materials including fabrics, foam, substrates, and production components
- Work closely with production and scheduling teams to align material flow with daily manufacturing requirements
- Maintain inventory levels in a just in time environment with minimal excess stock
- Track all active orders and ensure accurate, timely execution across multiple concurrent workflows
- Ensure all purchase orders are accurate, complete, and aligned with specifications before release
- Resolve supply issues and delays quickly to protect production schedules
What we are looking for
- 5 to 7 years experience in a Buyer Buyer role
- Strong manufacturing environment experience is required
- Experience with production driven purchasing, inventory coordination, or supply chain operations
- Strong ability to manage structured workflows with multiple dependent purchasing steps
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics or similar)
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in purchase orders and specifications
- Comfortable working in a fully metric environment and validating material requirements where needed
- Strong communication with production, operations, and supplier partners
- Ability to manage multiple active orders in a fast paced environment without losing track of follow up actions
Nice to have
- Experience with upholstery materials, fabrics, foam, or similar production components
- Exposure to BOMs, engineering drawings, or production specifications
- Experience in lean, JIT, or ISO controlled environments
