We are looking for someone who is independent, practical, organized, and able to manage files responsibly. This position is best suited for a lawyer who can communicate directly with clients, manage deadlines, prepare strong written submissions, and take ownership of files with appropriate support from the firm.
We are a flexible firm and understand that lawyers work best when they have some control over their schedule and work environment.
Lawgical Law Corporation is a full service immigration firm with a focus on the following:
Refugee claims and refugee appeals
Pre Removal Risk Assessments
Humanitarian and compassionate applications
Spousal sponsorships and sponsorship appeals
Stays of removal
Judicial reviews before the Federal Court
Temporary resident applications, including visitor visas, work permits, and study permits
CBSA matters and removal related issues
Experience with Immigration Law is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
The successful candidate should have strong legal writing skills, good judgment, and the ability to independently manage files and deadlines responsibly. We are looking for someone who is comfortable handling client matters with a reasonable degree of independence and who is interested in building a long term immigration practice and growing with the firm.
Responsibilities include:
Meeting with clients and assessing immigration options
Preparing immigration applications, submissions, affidavits, and legal arguments
Reviewing refusal letters, tribunal decisions, disclosure, and officer notes
Communicating with clients, IRCC, CBSA, tribunals, and the Federal Court
Managing deadlines and moving files forward efficiently
Working with support staff to ensure applications and court materials are complete and well organized
Appearing before tribunals or the Federal Court where appropriate, based on experience
Qualifications:
Called to the bar in British Columbia, or eligible to practice in British Columbia
Minimum 2 years of experience in Canadian immigration and refugee law preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
Immigration litigation experience is strongly preferred
Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
Ability to work independently while also taking direction
Professional, practical, and client focused
Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Spanish, or another second language is an asset, but not required
Compensation:
This position is structured as a fee split arrangement.
The lawyer will receive 30 percent of legal fees collected on files assigned to and managed by the lawyer, while the firm retains 70 percent.
The arrangement is intended for a lawyer who is able to independently manage files, maintain proper billing and timekeeping practices, communicate directly with clients, and take ownership over their work with appropriate support from the firm.
The precise structure of the arrangement, including file assignment, Legal Aid BC matters, private retainers, administrative support, and billing procedures, will be discussed with the right candidate.
We expect a base salary of at least $80,000.00, with potential to earn further.

Lawgical Law Corporation is a flexible firm. Remote work is available for the right candidate, provided that files are managed responsibly, deadlines are met, and clients continue to receive timely and professional service.
This position may be structured as mostly remote, hybrid, or office based depending on the candidate’s experience, work style, and ability to manage files independently.

The firm does not expect anyone joining us to be an expert in immigration law, although that experience is certainly an asset.
We believe in providing mentorship to junior associates so they feel confident in their work, continue to develop professionally, and produce high quality work in the best interests of our clients.
