About Keyin College
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program at Keyin College helps learners complete high school equivalency, upgrade academic credits, and prepare for entry into post-secondary education. Our mission is to build students’ confidence, expand their academic opportunities, and equip them with the skills needed for lifelong success.
We’re looking for full-time ABE Instructor to join our Bay Roberts Campus team for a 3 month contract with possibility of extension. If you’re passionate about teaching, committed to supporting diverse learners, and eager to create engaging learning experiences, this could be the perfect fit.
What You’ll Do
As an ABE Instructor, you’ll play a vital role in guiding adult learners on their academic journey. You will:
- Deliver engaging instruction across core subjects, with a focus on English.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans aligned with the ABE curriculum.
- Provide individualized support to help students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
- Facilitate both in-person and online learning using digital instructional tools.
- Assess student performance, give timely feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages persistence and achievement.
- Contribute ideas to enhance teaching practices and program delivery.
What You Bring
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education (Secondary or Post-Secondary)
- English as a teachable, demonstrated by: English as a minor; OR completion of at least six (6) Memorial University (MUN) English courses as part of a degree program.
- Teaching certification or equivalent experience in secondary or adult education.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Experience using online learning platforms and digital instructional tools.
- A passion for supporting adult learners and fostering academic growth.
- Experience with innovative teaching strategies (interactive modules, virtual labs, digital portfolios) is considered an asset.
- The ability to connect with learners through empathy and understanding, fostering confidence and resilience in their academic journey.
