We seek a talented individual to join the Aurora Shared Resource Program as an Educational Assistant. This Educational Assistant will support flexible high school programming for students with an Autism diagnosis, for whom attending mainstream school for full days is not possible. This program also works in partnership with other programs and schools and involves supporting with academic work, recreational programming, cultural programming and student transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
-
Class 5 drivers licence and clean driving abstract.
-
Post-secondary training in Exceptionalities Worker Program, Special Education, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or Medical Services would be an asset;
-
Experience working with equity-deserving students in senior level courses would be an asset;
-
Experience working with students on Moodle and supporting online learning would be an asset;
-
Experience working in a self-paced, self-directed learning environment would be an asset;
-
Experience working with First Nations students and integrating First Nations ways of knowing and doing into programming would be an asset;
-
Experience accompanying students on outdoor field trips and on-the-land activities would be an asset.

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a security clearance including vulnerable sector check.

Standard First Aid Certificate or a willingness to complete within 3 months

Completion of the Educational Assistant Module by the end of the school year
