Position Overview
This a full-time, in-house, position with possibility of group benefits, group RRPS, and profit sharing. It is a learning and growth opportunity for a future horticulture industry leader. Learn about A.M.A.’s culture and values on our website.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of A.M.A.’s solutions-oriented approach, our business lines and the horticultural markets we serve
- Sustain and expand A.M.A.'s customer base through targeted new business development
- Actively involved in information gathering, order-taking and processing, and follow-ups
- Work closely with sales team to communicate customer and supplier inquiries and identify the right solutions
- Research and resolve customer requests and issues in a timely and friendly manner
- Monitor horticultural trends and participate in key educational opportunities (e.g.webinars, trade shows, conferences, etc.)
- Send out samples and information packages tailored to customer needs
- Support and/or lead special projects
- Support ad hoc duties as needed
Essential Background & Skills
- The ideal candidate possesses a post-secondary degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or Business, and/or has 2+ years of horticulture or agriculture experience
- Experience in hydroponics, greenhouse production, propagation, nursery production, or horticultural field a strong asset
- Effective oral and written communication
- Strong ability to use effective listening skills, communicate with clarity, build rapport quickly and maintain an attitude that conveys respect, assistance, honesty, integrity and resourcefulness
- Strong ability to research, think critically, problem solve and exercise good judgement when answers are not apparent
- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion
- Ability to recognize signals of disgruntled, frustrated or irate customers and respond calmly with genuine empathy and assistance
- Ability to maintain punctual and regular attendance
- Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook, Sage, Zoom French, Dutch or Spanish language skills an asset
