Temporary Music Therapist (Contract) – Adult Day Centres | Mississauga Ontario
Creative Arts Therapies Canada is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Music Therapist to provide temporary contract coverage at adult day centres in Mississauga. This role is ideal for a therapist who enjoys working with older adults and is looking for flexible, meaningful contract work. The successful candidate will facilitate engaging, therapeutic music sessions that promote emotional well-being, social connection, cognitive stimulation, and self-expression.
Schedule
Primary Coverage Schedule (4 sessions per month): Week 1: Friday – 10:00 a.m. Week 2: Monday – 10:00 a.m. Week 3: Tuesday – 10:00 a.m. Week 4: Thursday – 10:00 a.m. Each session is 60 minutes in length. Additional On-Call Opportunities: The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to provide on-call coverage at other adult day centres in Mississauga n Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 1:00 p.m., as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan and implement 1 hour music therapy sessions tailored to the unique needs and abilities of the adults.
2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions
3. Stay current with best practices and research in the field of music therapy.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program. (REQUIRED)
2. Membership with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (MTA or MT-BC certified) (REQUIRED)
3. Registered Psychotherapist, RP or RP(Q) affiliated with the CRPO (PREFERRED)
4. Experience working with adults with special needs.
5. Proficiency in playing various musical instruments and facilitating group music therapy experiences.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Compassion, patience, and empathy for individuals with physical and cognitive challenges.
Pay: $70.00-$75.00 per hour
