Job Overview
We are currently seeking a Class 5 Commercial Truck Driver to deliver loads of lumber and building materials in Edmonton and the surrounding areas using a 3-ton single axle truck with a tilt deck. This is a full time, permanent position. Our company operates year-round and is closed for all weekends and statutory holidays. Shift time for this role will be 6:30am to 2:30pm with some overtime available when late loads or out of town runs are required.
Applicants can expect a fast-paced work environment that consistently requires the need for creativity, resolve and critical thinking. Strong observation skills and a commitment to safe work practices are critical. Site conditions often present hazards such as uneven ground, overhead power lines, open excavations and obstacles that drivers must observe and control. Prior experience with working in safety sensitive environments, completing Field Level Hazard Assessments and controlling hazards using the Hierarchy of Hazard Controls is a definite asset.

Responsibilities
- Operate trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Transport freight to and from designated locations while ensuring timely delivery.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle maintenance, and cargo information using an electronic logbook and other iPhone applications
- Perform site-specific Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) at each delivery site and photograph all delivered loads
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Offload cargo utilizing a flat tilt-deck (material end dump).
- Adhere to all company policies and regulations as well as local, provincial, and federal laws related to transportation.
- Perform cleaning, maintenance and organizing duties during slow periods.
- Keep trucks clean and presentable.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid Commercial Driver's License.
- Strong knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety regulations.
- Basic automotive repair skills for minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records.
