Overview
The Benue is hiring a dependable server and food prep person to assist customers, operate the POS system and help prepare and package Nigerian food orders for dine-in, takeout and online delivery.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly service
- Take dine-in, telephone, takeout and delivery orders
- Enter orders accurately into the POS system
- Process cash, debit and credit-card payments
- Monitor online delivery platforms
- Package and label takeout and delivery orders
- Confirm orders are complete before handing them to customers or drivers
- Explain menu items, ingredients and spice levels
- Assist with basic food preparation and portioning
- Wash, chop and package ingredients as directed
- Restock containers, drinks, cutlery and condiments
- Serve dine-in customers when required
- Maintain clean tables, counters and service areas
- Complete opening, closing and cleaning duties
- Coordinate with kitchen staff during busy periods
Requirements
- Restaurant, cashier, server or food-preparation experience preferred
- Comfortable using POS systems and delivery tablets
- Familiarity with Nigerian food is an asset
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced restaurant
- Reliable, punctual and organized
- Food Handler Certification preferred
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Evening and weekend availability required

Pay: $17.60-$25.90 per hour
