Hours: Afternoon shift, 2 pm-10:30 pm

Purpose:
The prime responsibility of Maintenance Electrician is the installation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of all electrical and electronic components of our process machinery systems, including site auxiliary and facility equipment, in a safe, efficient manner. The job does not directly supervise anyone but may indirectly supervise an electrical apprentice on an infrequent basis. Gay Lea Electricians will be expected to work alongside our Millwrights on priority maintenance jobs when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operation, troubleshooting and basic maintenance of all refrigeration, boiler, and HVAC equipment
- Repair and maintenance of pasteurizing, separating, and dryer process systems, packaging systems common to a dairy operation
- Coordinate with ESA inspection departments for adherence to regulatory and company requirements
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and manuals to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
- Maintain all records to ensure regulatory and company compliance
- Ensure all work performed complies with governing practices, codes and regulations
- Operation of all equipment in a safe and efficient manner as well as participation in plant efficiency initiatives
- Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs & other training materials provided
- Attend prescribed courses and training as required
Qualifications:
- Must possess and maintain a valid certificate as an Industrial Electrician (preference will be given to those holding multiple tickets)
- Minimum 3 years maintenance experience within the food industry, preferably in dairy, would be an asset
- Knowledge of GMPs and HACCP would be an asset, including excellent sanitary habits
- Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting ability
- Knowledge of high-speed filling and packaging lines would be an asset
- Solid knowledge of HMIs, VFDs and PLCs
- Familiar with continuous improvement processes and methodologies would be an asset
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment, air compressors, boilers and refrigeration systems would be an asset
- Good communication skills, including written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be flexible in terms of shift work and perform other duties as required
- Physically capable of performing the demands of the job
- Computer skills would be an asset
- Experience driving Forklifts, Scissor Lifts and Telehandlers would be an asset
Working Environment:
- Occasional exposure to dust, chemicals and extreme temperatures
Physical Demands:
- Standing and walking for considerable length of time
- Moderate lifting of materials up to maximum 25kg
