The Restaurant Expeditor serves as the communication link between the kitchen and front-of-house teams, ensuring that food orders are prepared accurately, presented according to standards, and delivered to guests in a timely manner. This role is essential in maintaining smooth kitchen operations, food quality, and overall guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate and manage the flow of food orders between the kitchen and service staff.
- Verify that all dishes are prepared according to restaurant standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines.
- Ensure orders are complete, accurate, and served promptly.
- Communicate effectively with chefs, cooks, servers, and management regarding order status and special requests.
- Inspect plates for quality, portion size, appearance, and accuracy before they leave the kitchen.
- Organize and prioritize orders during peak service periods to maintain efficiency.
- Address and resolve order discrepancies or delays quickly and professionally.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the expediting station.
- Assist in monitoring ticket times and helping the kitchen meet service goals.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Previous restaurant, food service, or kitchen experience preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds when necessary.
