Our client, a large, complex, resource company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Vancouver-based finance team. This organization holds a strong reputation in the resource sector both nationally and internationally. Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, this role offers the opportunity to work closely with corporate and operational stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and contribute to both financial reporting and ongoing process improvement.
The Senior Accountant will support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting activities, provide accounting guidance to operating teams, assist with technical accounting matters, provide analysis to aid in decision making, and help drive standardization and efficiency across reporting processes.

Key Responsibilities:
Review monthly financial reporting packages to ensure compliance with IFRS
Analyze financial results and variances to support business decision-making
Assist operational finance teams with accounting questions and technical issues
Support monthly close and consolidation processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and supporting schedules
Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related disclosures
Research and analyze complex accounting matters and prepare supporting documentation and position papers
Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to financial reporting, systems, and automation
Partner with internal and external auditors by preparing analyses and responding to requests
Ensure compliance with internal controls in a SOX-regulated environment
Contribute to special projects, including process improvements, system implementations, and reporting initiatives

Qualifications:
CPA designation required
4+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in public practice and/or a multi-entity, public company environment
Strong knowledge of IFRS and public company financial reporting
Experience with financial analysis, consolidations, and internal controls
Advanced Excel skills; experience with large ERP systems preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting
Industry experience in mining, industrial, manufacturing, or other asset-intensive environments is an asset
