SBA is currently accepting resumes for an Intermediate Water & Wastewater Technical Lead on our team. We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong technical background in water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection system design to join our team full-time in this new position. Working at SBA can be a fast-paced environment that requires collaboration and engagement from multiple disciplines throughout project development. The successful candidate should be a self-starter, have exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. They should be willing to travel on occasion to visit communities across Ontario and hold meetings with clients and community members. SBA provides a hybrid role, with required travel to client site and office as requested.
Responsibilities:
- Designing water and wastewater treatment infrastructures, master planning for municipalities, First Nations, and private sector clients.
- Preparing conceptual and detailed designs, calculations, layouts, and specifications.
- Managing multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
- Managing and coordinating with interdisciplinary design teams.
- Providing detailed input or helping with the preparation of technical proposals, feasibility studies, designs, and other assignments.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of engineering procedures and standards.
- Travel across Ontario, including northern and/or remote communities
- Mentoring junior staff and providing direction on technical and non-technical project related matters.
- Providing leadership to junior staff to promote company growth and overall team building.
Qualifications:
- Civil or Environmental Engineering degree with a minimum of five (5) years of job-related work experience.
- Strong process design experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and wastewater pump stations, distribution and collection systems, storage, and lift stations.
- Sound technical knowledge of detailed hydraulic calculations including but not limited to distribution system modeling, process piping, pump sizing, and process equipment sizing.
- Experience in water and wastewater master planning for municipalities, First Nations, and/or private sector clients.
- Must be working towards or actively registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
- Knowledge of Canadian and Ontario design codes and guidelines.
- Strong time-management skills and self-initiative to meet deadlines.
- Proven project management experience is required, including project control (budget setting and tracking, project scheduling, scope change management, agreements, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel to remote and/or northern locations across Canada for multiple days at a time.
- Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license (G Class) in good standing.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent qualification is considered an asset.
- Client and government approval process experience is considered an asset.
