Mid Island Cabinets has been building high‑quality custom European‑style cabinetry for over 30 years. We operate a modern 30,000 sq. ft. facility and are looking for a detail‑oriented, quality‑driven Finisher to join our production team.
This role focuses on cabinet finishing, sanding, prepping, and applying coatings, with cross‑training on additional finishing processes.
Primary Responsibilities
Finishing & Coatings
- Prepare components for finishing through sanding, edge prep, and defect removal
- Apply stains, sealers, primers, and top‑coats using HVLP spray equipment
- Mix and adjust coatings to match required colours and sheens
- Maintain finish consistency, quality, and smoothness across all parts
- Inspect completed components for defects, adhesion, and finish uniformity
Cabinet Component Prep
- Fill, repair, and prep parts prior to finishing
- Work from shop drawings and finish schedules
- Track parts through the finishing workflow
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the finishing area
Cross‑Training Provided
- Touch‑ups and repair work on completed cabinetry
- Basic assembly and hardware installation support
- Safe handling and staging of finished components
What You Bring
- Experience in cabinet finishing, spraying, or woodworking (preferred)
- Ability to read shop drawings and finish specifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of finishing tools
- High attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
- Reliable, safety‑focused, and able to work independently or in a team
