The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a long-term care or geriatric setting. Strong knowledge of long-term care principles, including chronic disease management, wound care, and medication administration. Excellent clinical assessment skills and the ability to develop and execute comprehensive care plans. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team. Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in providing care. Physically able to complete all demanding aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending, lifting, assuming awkward positions and standing for long durations of time. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or additional training in Geriatric Nursing or Long-Term Care Nursing (e.g., Certified Nurse in Long-Term Care (CNLTC)). Certification or training in crisis management techniques, such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI). Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Connect Care. Experience with InterRAI MDS/ LTCF Assessments. Charge nurse experience preferred.
