Job Title: Construction Site Superintendent (ICI)
Payrate: $35/Hour
Location: Ottawa, ON
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, Project Advisory & Compliance, the ICI Assistant Site
Superintendent supports daily on-site activity of a project or multiple job sites, ensuring it is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications and local codes. The ICI Assistant Site Superintendent ensures adequate manpower is available for tasks, scheduling and directing the work of all subcontractors, consultants and vendors to meet or exceed our client’s expectations of quality, safety and delivery. This individual will work closely with the Project Management Team for the construction of industrial, commercial, institutional and residential properties to deliver the project on time and within budget.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
● Plan, schedule, organize, direct and control construction projects from start to finish according to
schedule drawings, specifications and budget.
● Attend and participate in internal and external project meetings.
● Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling,
potential construction problems or cost-saving opportunities.
● Oversee day-to-day field activities inspecting work performed by employees, other contractors and
sub-contractors displaying high honesty and professionalism.
● Schedule, document, and supervise the activities of all subcontractors and trades.
● Maintain good working relationships with the clients, consultants, subtrades and regulatory
authorities.
● Partner with the Project Manager to discuss errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the
Consultant’s design drawings/ specifications/ scope of work gaps.
● Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution.
● Maintain strict build-out construction project management schedule and make changes as
necessary to ensure deadlines are met.
● Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding work performed.
● Track supply inventory and materials to guard against loss and to ensure that vital materials are
ordered and delivered to meet schedule.
● Coordinate and direct independent testing and inspections as required.
● Retains 24/7 ownership of the site, ensuring its security and safety throughout the project life cycle.
● Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control.
● With the support of the project team, control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses.
● Assemble the job site office, equipment requirements and trade deployment as per budget.
● Lead & document job site meetings.
● Conduct site orientations and safety meetings as required by the safety policy.
● As required, maintain time sheets for T&M work, daily site log, and construction documentation.
● Maintain a safe, organized and clean job site compliant with the requirements of the Occupational
Health and Safety Act and Regulation for Construction Projects.
● Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists.
● With support from the project team, follow the contract process for changes and notices.
● Use Jonas Premier for daily logs, RFI’s, submittals, and all other construction documentation.
● Provide other duties as requested and required.
KEY ATTRIBUTES
● Demonstrates proficiency in the use of personal computers, with a working knowledge of Microsoft
Office, Microsoft Project.
● A working knowledge of standard office equipment and other specified technical equipment such as
a telephone system, business calculator, copying machine, fax machine, etc.
● Highly organized and able to maintain systems to keep orderly records and to effectively manage
different and numerous tasks simultaneously
● Able to relate well with co-workers, management, other employees, client groups and general public
● Solid understanding of the building envelope and construction techniques
● Works with a team to provide excellence in customer service.
Pay: $35.00 per hour
