We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support both parents in their home in Woodbridge (Highway 7 and 400 area). Dad has mobility challenges and uses a cane, making it difficult for him to manage household tasks like carrying laundry or handling pots while cooking. Mom is currently experiencing severe depression and anxiety, which has impacted her ability to manage daily household responsibilities. Both parents are cognitively intact with no signs of dementia, but they need consistent support to maintain their independence at home. They live in a four-bedroom, two-story house with grab bars installed in the bathrooms. This is their first time receiving care, and they're looking for someone reliable who can help them maintain a safe, comfortable home environment.
- Prepare nutritious dinners with balanced meals including protein and vegetables
- Assist with laundry including changing bed sheets, carrying laundry to the basement, running loads, and hanging clothes on the line to dry
- Light housekeeping focused on maintaining hygiene and safety in bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen areas
- Provide bathing assistance and personal care support as needed
- Medication reminders to ensure both parents stay on track with their prescriptions
- Order or shop for groceries as needed (Instacart ordering available if caregiver doesn't have a vehicle)
- Provide companionship and emotional support, particularly for mom during this challenging time
- Experience supporting clients with mobility limitations and mental health challenges
- Patient, calm demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- English-speaking
- Reliable and consistent with excellent communication
- Understanding of the unique needs of first-time care recipients
- Comfortable working with two clients simultaneously in the same household
Daily visits are needed, with flexibility on exact timing. We're looking for approximately 6-8 hours per week spread across multiple visits (for example, 2-3 hours per visit, 3-4 days per week). The family is particularly concerned about having consistent support in place before September when their daughter returns to teaching.
