About the Opportunity
Peacock Tariff Consulting helps clients navigate the complex, fast-changing world of cross-border trade. As tariffs and customs rules continue to shift, our clients rely on us to keep them compliant, minimize duties, and stay ahead of new requirements — and we're growing our team to keep pace.
We're looking for a detail-oriented, curious self-starter to join us as a Trade Compliance Associate. You'll report to the Manager of Client Services and work directly on the technical backbone of our client engagements — classification, filings, assessments, and rulings. This is a great entry point into the trade compliance field, with hands-on training and opportunities for growth within the company.
What You'll Do:
- Conduct HS (Harmonized System) classification audits to confirm clients' goods are coded correctly
- Prepare and file paperwork with CBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) and CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management)
- Support Trade Compliance Assessments, identifying gaps and recommending corrective action
- Assist in preparing and submitting binding ruling requests to customs authorities
- Help conduct Forced Labour Risk Assessments across client supply chains
- Prepare and file protests and other post-entry corrections on clients' behalf
- Maintain organized, audit-ready records across multiple client files and jurisdictions
- Work closely with the Manager of Client Services to keep engagements on track and clients informed
What We're Looking For:
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with regulatory paperwork and deadlines
- An interest in international trade, customs, or supply chain compliance
- A passion for learning and a thirst for expertise
- Strong written communication skills; comfortable drafting formal submissions
- Ability to manage multiple client files and priorities at once
- Coachable and eager to learn customs regulations, systems, and processes on the job
- Post-secondary education in a related field (business, trade, law, logistics) is an asset but not required
- Prior experience with customs, trade compliance, or regulatory filings is an asset but not required
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, fast-moving environment
Why Join Us:
- Ground-floor opportunity to build a career in trade compliance and consulting
- Hands-on mentorship and training from experienced trade compliance professionals
- Exposure to real client work across classification, customs filings, and risk assessments from day one
- A hybrid role with a supportive, collaborative team
- A clear path to grow into more senior compliance, advisory, or client-facing roles
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Orillia, ON
