Additional Information:
The Fort Vermilion School Division is seeking a 0.5 FTE Student Success and Engagement Coach to support First Nations children, youth, and families of students attending Rocky Lane School.
This position plays a key role in strengthening relationships between students, families, and schools through positive engagement. The successful candidate will focus on improving school attendance, fostering cultural connectivity, supporting positive student behaviours, and promoting an inclusive learning environment.
Start Date: September 2, 2026
Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and strengthen school engagement for identified students and families
- Assist students and families in overcoming barriers to success (e.g., attendance) and provide advocacy and support
- Support students in exploring educational and career pathways
- Plan, develop, and deliver specialized cultural programming
- Help students develop a strong sense of identity and assist schools in promoting cultural awareness
- Serve as a liaison between the Fort Vermilion School Division and partner First Nation communities
Qualifications & Desired Attributes:
- Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., recreation, social work, education) or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Strong commitment to student and family success
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in small teams
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, email, and Excel
- Resourceful, energetic, creative, and self-directed
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Engaged in ongoing professional learning related to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit culture
- Highly organized with the ability to plan and deliver ongoing family supports and classroom programming
- Knowledge of or fluency in Dene-Tha, Beaver (Dene-Zaa), Cree, or Northern Michif is considered an asset
Salary:
- Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience
