Job Summary
The Part-Time Industrial Line Cleaning Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing industrial machinery, production equipment, and manufacturing lines during scheduled weekend shutdown periods. This role supports the overall cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the facility by ensuring production equipment and surrounding work areas are properly maintained. The successful candidate will work independently and as part of a team to complete scheduled cleaning tasks while following all company safety procedures and sanitation standards.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize industrial food production equipment including conveyors, tumblers, scales, fryers, hoppers, and surrounding production areas including floors
- Perform deep cleaning of production lines during scheduled shutdown periods to ensure equipment is ready for start up
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment components safely and correctly for thorough cleaning and sanitation
- Clean fryer systems according to company procedures, including removal of product buildup, oil residue, and debris
- Remove food particles, grease, dust, and buildup from conveyors, machine surfaces, guards, rollers, and hard-to-reach areas
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment including pressure washers, vacuums, foamers, and sanitation tools
- Handle and use cleaning chemicals safely in accordance with WHMIS and company safety standards
- Sweep, scrub, and maintain cleanliness of floors, drains, and surrounding production spaces
- Complete sanitation records, cleaning logs, and shutdown documentation accurately
- Identify and report equipment issues, maintenance concerns, or safety hazards
- Support production and maintenance teams with general cleaning and operational readiness tasks as required
- Maintain safe housekeeping practices and ensure work areas remain organized throughout the shift
- Operate forklifts or material handling equipment when required (forklift experience considered an asset)
Qualifications
- Previous experience in industrial cleaning, sanitation, food manufacturing, or production environments preferred
- Experience cleaning industrial equipment and production lines considered a strong asset
- Ability to safely disassemble and reassemble machinery components
- Comfortable working around conveyors, fryers, moving equipment, and industrial machinery
- Ability to follow detailed shutdown, sanitation, and safety procedures
- Forklift certification or previous forklift experience considered an asset
- WHMIS certification considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and workplace safety standards
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, standing, and performing repetitive cleaning tasks for extended periods
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks within scheduled shutdown timelines
- Reliable transportation and availability to work Fridays and Saturdays required
