The Orangeville Food Bank and Dufferin Food Share is seeking a dynamic and results driven Fund Development Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on donor acquisition, retention, and stewardship, while driving engagement and expanding community giving initiatives.
Salary: $65,000-$90,000 per annum 35 hours a week / Permanent, Full-Time

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Fund Development Specialist to join our team. This role is vital in identifying growth opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and expanding our market presence.
The Fund Development Specialist is responsible for leading and implementing fundraising, donor engagement, and revenue-generation strategies to support the sustainability and growth of the Orangeville Food Bank & Dufferin Food Share. This role focuses on securing financial and in-kind resources through grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, foundations, special events, and community partnerships.
Working closely with the Executive Director, the Fund Development Specialist will build strong relationships with donors and funders, develop compelling funding proposals, and ensure alignment with the organization’s mission of addressing food insecurity through dignified food support practices.
Core Responsibilities: Fund Development & Revenue Generation
- Design and implement annual fundraising strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
- Identify and pursue individual, corporate, and community-based donation opportunities.
- Develop and manage donor pipelines, including prospective, new, and returning donors.
- Secure financial and in-kind contributions to support food distribution, operations, and special initiatives.
Donor Relations & Stewardship:
- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with donors, sponsors, and supporters.
- Coordinate donor communications, acknowledgements, and recognition activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate donation receipting in compliance with organizational and CRA standards.
- Maintain donor confidentiality and ethical fundraising practices.
Campaigns, Events & Partnerships:
- Plan and execute fundraising campaigns, seasonal appeals, and community giving initiatives.
- Support the development of sponsorship packages and partnership proposals.
- Collaborate with internal teams on fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
- Represent the organization professionally at community and networking events.
Prospecting:
· Conduct thorough research to identify potential individual donors aligned with the organization's mission and fundraising priorities. [DB3] [HH4]
· Develop and maintain a prospect pipeline, tracking interactions and progress through the cultivation process.
Data Management & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of donations, donor interactions, and fundraising outcomes.
- Track progress toward fundraising targets and prepare internal performance reports.
- Analyze fundraising data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Grant Management:
· Identify potential grant opportunities to support the organization's programs and initiatives.
· Write compelling grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder priorities and guidelines.
· Deliver comprehensive and timely reports to grant funders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and impact, in alignment with their reporting requirements.
Collaboration & Organizational Support:
- Work closely with leadership, staff, and volunteers to align fundraising activities with programs.
- Support Board members and leadership in donor outreach and relationship building.
- Contribute to strategic planning and organizational sustainability discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Fund Development, Marketing, Communications, Business, Non-Profit Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.[DB5] [HH6]
- Minimum of 3 -5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or revenue development within a non-profit or community organization.
- Demonstrated success in donor engagement, fundraising campaigns, or sponsorship development.
- Experience working with donor databases, CRM systems, Salesforce or fundraising tracking tools.[DB7] [HH8]
· A clean drivers abstract and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with food banks, social service organizations, or community-based nonprofits.
- Familiarity with culturally responsive fundraising and equity-centered approaches.
- Comfortable making direct donation requests
- Experience with social media platforms
