The Department
The Department offers the Practical Nurse Program and the Health Care Aide Program. Housed in the state of the art Health Education Centre located inside the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital (GPRH), students benefit from smaller class sizes coupled with high-quality personalized instruction on-site at GPRH, ensuring ample opportunities for the learners of our region and students from across Canada and around the world.
The Role
The Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide department is seeking full time sessional instructors to teach sections from both the Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide programs. The successful applicants may commence eight-month contracts in either August or December 2026, depending on workload assignment. Contract dates will reflect program delivery timelines. Job Requirements:
Applicants must hold a Practical Nurse diploma or degree, have current registration with a regulatory body (CRNA or CLPNA), and two years of full-time experience in nursing practice. Previous experience in adult teaching or supervision of students is desired. Experience with student centered learning approaches would be an asset. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Successful candidates will be professionals with a positive attitude towards education; have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with students; be able to work independently and work collaboratively with colleagues; and demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and motivated. You will be able to give guidance and direction to others, creatively find solutions to challenges, and be aware of goals and vision of nursing education. Working knowledge with computers, word processing programs and Outlook would be an asset.
